Jim Gleason, APR

jimJim Gleason joined the Department of Communication in 2005, and teaches classes in Public Relations, advertising, graphics and special events.

He received his PhD in Mass Communication from he University of Kentucky in 2009. His dissertation research involves the development of Outcome Interactivity Theory and the impact of interactive functionality on student learning outcomes. His research interests include new media, advertising, public relations and instructional design.

He received his BA in Education and MS in Educational Media from the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz.

Prior to joining EKU, he was director of worldwide employee communications and special events for Lexmark, founder and president of Buzzword, Inc., and vice president of communications at Meridian Communications. He is Accredited by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and is past president of the Thoroughbred Chapter.

He is an accomplished musician and currently plays lead guitar for The Johnson Brothers Band and The Sons of the Frigidaires, as well as stunt guitar for his wife Missy's band The Bats.
