Zach Henning is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at the Eastern Kentucky University. He received his undergraduate degree in 2001 from Virginia Tech with a major in Communication Studies, an option in Public Relations, and a double minor in Political Science and Psychology. He received his Master’s degree from Radford University in Corporate Communication in 2003 and his doctorate from the University of Kentucky in Communication with a specialization in Interpersonal Communication in Applied Contexts and a cognate in Organizational Behavior (from the Management department) in 2007.
Dr. Henning’s research interests include Interpersonal Communication in organizational and instructional contexts along with Training & Development. Currently, his research is focusing on effective instructional strategies that lead to student engagement and student learning outcomes.
This is his sixth year teaching at the university level. Since 2002, he has developed and taught college courses in Persuasion Theory, Public Speaking, Small Group Communication, Interpersonal Communication Business and Professional Speaking, and Communication & Gender.
In addition to teaching, he has 19 years of workforce experience in various fields including: journalism, retail sales, e-commerce business development, technical sales, technical support, peer counseling, apartment management, and strategic communication consulting.
