Staff Writer -- The Spencer Magnet (5/5/08)

The Spencer Magnet, a 4,100 circulation weekly located in fast-growing and yet largely rural Spencer County, is seeking a staff writer to cover sports, education and general assignments. As part of an editorial staff of two, the staff writer would also be responsible for taking photographs to accompany stories and help with page layout and design.

Event Coordinators are needed to fill full-time positions that will begin in April and conclude in August. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who generally is on break/holiday during the summer. These are entry-level, event planning / management opportunities for energetic and passionate college grads. The Event Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing assigned portions related to the designated program on the Scholar Experience Team. Event Coordinators may be responsible for supervising the Faculty Advisors and/or Operations Team Members and monitoring the participants? experiences during the programs.

Copy Editor/Page Designer -- Danville Advocate Messinger (2/26/08)

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field (or equivalent). Note: An ideal candidate would have college or practical newsroom experience in editing and page design.

Duties: Produce newspaper pages, special sections and tabs, both from prepared dummies and with limited direction from other editors. Edit copy on deadline, proof, make PDFs and send pages produced by other editors and designers. Senior editor on duty will monitor wire budgets and digests and make recommendations if necessary.  Write at least one standing feature each week as assigned, and be prepared to use writing/reporting skills to work on advance stories and special publications. Occasional photography. Other production duties as assigned.

Needed skill sets: Must have sound news judgment, be well-organized, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be a problem-solver. Should have excellent knowledge of AP style and must have working knowledge of desktop publishing software. Thorough knowledge of libel/privacy laws.

Define excellent performance: No more than two corrections per year. Ability to edit and paginate any page in the news section on deadline. An excellent copy editor must display a consistent ability to question the content/structure of any story and make appropriate changes and improvements.

Days-work shift: Weekday shift begins no later than 7 a.m., Saturday shift begins at roughly 4 p.m. Shifts end when work is done.

Communications Specialist / Publications Production Assistant -- UK College of Medicine (12/29/07)

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for several communication materials, including the Dean's Newsletter, College of Medicine fact sheet, correspondence materials and supporting articles for the quarterly magazine. Cincinnati Opera's development department seeks a highly motivated and organized individual with excellent interpersonal relationship skills to serve as Events Manager.

This person will be responsible for planning, coordinating and managing all cultivation, donor and major events for Cincinnati Opera. Examples of events include but are not limited to the season opening night dinner, pre-performance dinners, cast parties, donor receptions, and the Opera Gala, a large annual fall fundraiser. This position reports to the Director of Development and also works closely with the President and Board of the Cincinnati Opera Guild to support various volunteer meetings, events and activities.

The successful candidate will have meaningful experience in events planning and management, as well as experience working with volunteers. He/she must understand how to motivate and work productively with volunteers and donors. The candidate must also be able to function efficiently during the compressed time of the opera season when multiple events are scheduled. Event management often requires work on weekends and evenings, beyond the regular work day. WNIT, Michiana's Public Television station, currently has an opening for a Production Assistant. This individual will be responsible for
assisting the TV Production team with duties which will include various aspects of weekly local production such as researching topics,
contacting guests, logging tape and writing. Duties will also include editing on Final Cut Pro editing system, video taping on location and in the studio, assist in lighting and set-up and tear down of studio sets. Candidate must be able to work under time constraints, occasional weekends as determined by projects, represent WNIT well to the public and must pay attention to detail. Must also be able to do occasional lifting. Compensation: $11-$12 / hour

Education Required:
Preference given to applicants who have television experience.

Programming / Administrative Assistant -- WLEX-TV 18 (09/13/07)

LEX 18, NBC affiliate in Lexington, KY has a position open for a Programming/ Administrative Assistant. This position will consolidate and distribute programming information related to NBC, Syndicated and Local programming both internally and externally.

Strong computer skills, verbal and written communication abilities, strong people skills and ability to handle deadlines are necessary strengths for this position. Person will need to receive and distribute information from all departments inside the television station. Local television experience in sales support, traffic or administrative assistance a strong plus.
